Strategy

Research is never completed, new insights are always surprising, the challenge is always new. Viadrina's research strategy takes this into account by regularly being adapted and updated. You will find the current research strategy here shortly.

Focal points

At Viadrina, research projects in the fields of Law, Business Administration and Economics, Cultural and Social Sciences, and Digital Studies address central questions of shaping the global present and future in a variety of ways. Viadrina hosts a broad spectrum of individual and collaborative projects which also form the basis for special profile focal points. The Viadrina uses these to create a specific research profile that is continuously updated and developed. A central and constant element of this profile is Viadrina's special interest in Europe.

Structures

Research at Viadrina is conducted both as individual and collaborative research, on the basis of both public funding and competitively acquired third-party funding. While individual research has its natural place in the Faculties with their Professorships, researchers, and various work areas, thematic clusters find an additional institutional basis in central academic institutions, faculty research institutes, regional joint research institutions, and supra-regional research networks.

Co-operations

As a small university, Viadrina focuses heavily on regional, national, and international cooperation in research. Both its individual and collaborative projects benefit from strong professional networks and the division of labour that collaboration across institutional boundaries makes possible.
