Broadly speaking, there are two ways to this goal: as an individual or structured PhD.

Individual doctorate

In an individual doctorate, you pursue your own research topic at a professorship under the supervision of one or more professors. Here, you will find all information on finding a supervisor, applying as a doctoral candidate, the formal requirements, and funding questions.

Structured PhD

A structured PhD usually takes place as part of a doctoral program or a research training group. It is characterized, among other things, by multiple supervisors, regular exchange in a research group, and a structured, partly modularized doctoral process.
