The European Reform University Alliance and the Viadrina

ERUA at Viadrina

Since November 2023, the European University Viadrina has been a member of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), a network of eight universities stretching from the Canary Islands via France, Italy and Poland to Lithuania, Bulgaria and Greece. The Viadrina is thus being funded as a "European University" and will receive 2.25 million euros out of a total of 12.8 million euros for a period of four years, with which the European Commission is funding the entire ERUA network. The aim of the European Reform University Alliance is to innovatively shape the future of universities in Europe and to rethink teaching and learning as well as research and social commitment from a critical, European and inclusive perspective.

With the European Universities Programme, the European Commission is promoting the networking of universities across Europe. As cross-border university networks, they are intended to strengthen the higher education area by pooling the strengths and diversity of research and teaching at universities in Europe.

Seminar in writing Erasmus+ KA220 applications

Invitation to the online seminar "Seminar in Writing Erasmus+ KA220 Applications - Cooperation Partnership" organized by the University of the Aegean, an ERUA partner university. Learn how to design and structure competitive proposals, explore funding priorities and eligibility criteria, and receive practical expert tips to make your application stand out. The seminar will take place online on January 22, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM CET. The seminar language will be English.

The ERUA student-led magazine is online: CATCH-UP!

The first issue of the ERUA magazine was published on ERUA Day, 12 December 2024. It was developed by students and aims to showcase talents, ideas and stories from the ERUA network. News, opinions, research articles and much more provide an insight into what is going on among ERUA students and what has been achieved so far. Click here for the first issue!

Call for Innovative Teaching Initiatives

ERUA invites academics from the eight partner universities to submit proposals for innovative course programmes and concepts that promote cross-border cooperation and are in line with ERUA's values. The initiatives must involve cooperation between at least two member universities, realised through co-teaching arrangements or short-term mobilities such as travel modules, intensive courses, summer/winter academies. The deadline for submitting applications is eight weeks before the start of the project. Further information can be found on the project website.

Call for ERUA anthem

We are pleased to announce an alliance-wide call for proposals for an ERUA anthem. We are looking for ideas that embody the spirit and values of the Alliance as well as ERUA's core principles of openness, student-centred approach, inclusiveness and humanism. Proposals submitted should also outline strategies for marketing the chosen anthem. All universities in the network are encouraged to actively participate in this collaborative creative process.

ERUA-Day: One year ERUA at Viadrina

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the European University Alliance ERUA celebrated its anniversary. In addition to a diverse online program with live streams from all partner universities, the event at Viadrina included an expert breakfast, an internal team workshop, and a reception for the ERUA community.

Innovative learning pathways: Viadrina participates in conference and ERUA working meeting in the Canary Islands

Innovative teaching and learning formats were the focus of the "InnoEducaTIC" conference and an ERUA working meeting at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from 20 to 22 November 2024. Viadrina was also represented and participated in the conference programme with a contribution on collaborative learning by Franziska Liebetanz from the Center for Teaching and Learning.

“Out of the comfort zone" – Scholarships and Research Week support ERUA researchers

Spend a month researching at a university in the ERUA network, advance the own career and build an international network – Maria Carmen Staiano and Luca Torelli from the University of Macerata are currently taking advantage of this opportunity offered by the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) at Viadrina. As part of the Visiting Programme for Early Career Researchers, the fellows also took part in the ERUA-Viadrina Research Week from 11 to 15 November.

"Students are the heart of every university" – ERUA meeting on Student Engagement at Viadrina

Students from Lesbos and the Canary Islands, Warsaw, Paris, Sofia and Vilnius came together at Viadrina on 17th and 18th April to get to know each other and work together as part of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA). The focus was on exploring the ideas and aspirations students bring to the alliance and how they want to contribute to its development.
