Start of Studies

Welcome dear new students!

We are pleased that you have decided to study at our university and would like to welcome you to Viadrina.

During the annual introductory week in October, you will receive the roadmap for your studies and all relevant information about the start of your studies. The introductory week will probably take place on site.

After subject-specific introductions, you will also receive information about the Campus Management System and the Moodle learning platform. We will inform you about topics such as barrier-free studies or studying with family, library use, student financing and studying abroad. In addition, there is of course also the opportunity to get to know Frankfurt (Oder), Słubice and your fellow students.

The ABC for first-year students! We have summarized the most important points in a FAQ to make the start into your studies easier. From A as in contact person to Z as in time management, you get a good overview.

Kick-off for studies

You want to get off to a great start in your studies and be prepared? During the project week you can gather experience and ideas together with others. You learn first research and working techniques in your subject as well as scientific thinking and argumentation.

Language courses for foreign first-year students

In order to begin a German-language course of study at Viadrina, you need proof of your linguistic ability to study. For this purpose, we offer you the German Language Test for University Admission (DSH). As preparation for the DSH we recommend the DSH preparation course.

Preparatory offers

Get off to an optimal start in your studies: With courses that prepare you for your studies, you have the opportunity to close gaps in your knowledge, refresh your knowledge and get to know scientific working techniques in the winter semester.
