Course of proceedings
The procedure for the appointment or reappointment of a professorship or junior professorship at the European University Viadrina Foundation under assignment to one of the faculties of the European University Viadrina requires compliance with a number of legal regulations and ordinances. A special feature is the independent implementation of procedures at the university, from approval to appointment. As a body of the European University Viadrina Foundation, the Foundation Board is involved in appointment procedures.

Information for call holders
The President issues the appointment to fill the vacancy.
The holder of the appointment receives a letter of information which serves to prepare the appointment negotiations. Among other things, this will include a presentation of the teaching and research concept, the equipment required for future teaching and research activities and other necessary evidence (health certificate, etc.).
For questions regarding the organisation of the negotiations, holders of an appointment can contact the appointment management department.

The appointment negotiations are prepared on the basis of the ideas of the holder of the appointment. The faculty (see general conditions) and the Chancellor will provide input on physical and human resources, spatial equipment, IT equipment and library facilities prior to the appointment negotiations (see general conditions).

The appointment offer drawn up as a result of the appointment negotiations is made known to the holder of the appointment. The appointment agreement is drawn up as a result of further discussions (by email) between the President/Chancellor and the holder of the appointment.
The written appointment agreement is deemed to be a confirmation of appointment. For acceptance, a written notification (acceptance of appointment) must be sent by the holder of the appointment to the President within a specified period. The rejection of the call must also be sent to the President.
After the appointment has been accepted, the appointment is made by the President and the certificate of appointment is handed over. Prior to this, the holder of the appointment will be asked to provide a health certificate and a certificate of good conduct.
