EU research funding
Networking, excellence and innovation
... are at the center of European funding programs. Whether as individual funding or part of European collaborative projects - European research funding offers excellent opportunities for your scientific career and international networking.
The EU research funding team will be happy to assist you with the success of your research proposals. We will help you to shed light on the European Commission's jungle of calls for proposals and advise you and your chair on suitable funding opportunities and appropriate application jargon. We want you to concentrate on the scientific content and take care of the administrative part of the application process. We advise on cross-cutting issues such as gender or ethics and support you in networking with potential project partners. We coordinate the administrative procedures after project approval and support you in managing the project.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
EU funding lines
Horizon Europe is the European Union's flagship research and innovation program for the period 2021-2027. Horizon Europe offers extensive funding opportunities for researchers in the humanities and social sciences to explore societal challenges such as social inequality, migration and digital transformation. The program supports interdisciplinary projects that develop innovative approaches to address cultural, economic, and political issues. Researchers can work in international consortia and gain access to global networks. Horizon Europe promotes mobility and career development in the humanities and social sciences, e.g. through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowships for postdoctoral researchers and ground-breaking research projects by top researchers at various career stages - from researchers in the qualification phase to established scientists (ERC).

EU competence network
The Viadrina is a member of the EU Competence Network (EUK) of the State of Brandenburg.
All universities in the state have joined forces in the EU Competence Network to share their competences and best practices in EU research funding and to further expand and pool their expertise.
The EUK also promotes the participation of scientists in conferences and information events in Brussels in order to:
- establish international contacts for EU projects;
- deepen relations with the EU institutions;
- promote contacts with thematic EU networks.
European University Reform Alliance (ERUA)
The Viadrina is a member of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA). The EU department coordinates this long-term cooperation project, which is funded by the European Commission, and leads the cross-departmental ERUA team at Viadrina.
ERUA brings together eight European universities that are committed to promoting reform and innovation in higher education. This includes the development of transformative educational approaches, the promotion of mobility for students, researchers and administrative staff as well as social engagement and social entrepreneurship.
In the area of research, ERUA promotes the crystallisation of interdisciplinary and international clusters that address the most important societal challenges in Europe - migration, democracy, inclusion, the environment and digital innovation.
Please contact us if you are interested in cooperating with international colleagues in research projects and learn more about the opportunities ERUA offers you.
