As part of our centre's writing peer tutor training, we not only teach prospective tutors skills in writing didactics and counselling, but also actively support them in developing their own writing skills. Through practical exercises and intensive engagement with a wide range of writing projects, they not only acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge, but also the practical skills to fulfil their role as writing consultants competently. This enables them not only to support their peers in developing their writing skills, but also to act as motivating and empathetic contacts in the writing process.

This specialisation is aimed at students who wish to specialise in knowledge transfer and peer-to-peer learning. Basic project management skills are taught, with a focus on applying these in the context of supporting learning processes. Students learn how to work effectively in teams and how to plan and implement projects that promote learning.

In addition, students expand their skills in moderation, presentation and workshop design. They learn how to actively support learning processes, effectively plan and conduct workshops and presentations, and create collaborative learning environments that promote exchange and cooperation.

The "Intercultural Learning" specialisation offers students a platform to develop their intercultural communication and collaboration skills. During the track, they deepen their cultural sensitivity and put it into practice in real-life projects at the Viadrina and in the city. The track also highlights various key topics at the university, such as research, teaching, internationalisation and equal opportunities. Students make valuable connections to local and international networks at Viadrina and have the opportunity to conceptualise and develop their own projects.

The project management specialisation offers students the opportunity to develop essential skills in teamwork and project management. They learn how to generate, structure and implement project ideas, with a focus on developing soft skills such as communication skills, problem-solving skills and time management.

Students will be involved in real-life university and city projects, working closely with various stakeholders and applying their knowledge to real-world projects. This track emphasises the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts and encourages networking with the local community.

As part of the university didactics programme, participants choose from two modules of the training courses on offer. These modules provide in-depth training in various teaching methods and pedagogical approaches aimed at strengthening participants' teaching skills and promoting innovative teaching practices. Students can choose between different specialisations that cover both theoretical foundations and practical applications in university teaching.

Structure of the training

After completing modules 1 and 2 and a presentation of your learning outcomes, you will receive a junior certificate that certifies your basic knowledge in the respective subject area.
With this certificate, you can apply for a SHK/WHK position as a peer tutor at the ZLL, help shape the ZLL's programmes and support your fellow students in their studies.

If you have gained at least one semester of practical experience as a peer tutor at the ZLL and have also completed a further training module (module 3), you will receive your senior certificate after a final presentation, which certifies your knowledge of key skills and didactic issues as well as practical experience and application skills.

If you give a specialised tutorial, you will receive parallel training in higher education didactics and can also receive a senior certificate after attending modules 1 and 2 as well as a presentation.

Modules 1 and 2 are seminars offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning (ZLL), which are recognised as part of peer tutoring training. A corresponding note can usually be found in the seminar description in Viacampus, in the course schedule and on our website.
Module 3 is usually offered as a seminar or workshop series by the ZLL and is labelled accordingly. The scope is at least 15 teaching units (á 45 minutes) of attendance time plus implementation or conceptual work for the work as a peer tutor. Whether ECTS can be recognised depends on the respective course or degree programme and cannot be guaranteed in principle. In justified cases, other further education courses may also be recognised as Module 3 after prior consultation with the ZLL team and after assessing the scope and relevance.
