Social entrepreneurship

Promoting entrepreneurship in the social sciences

ERUA meeting at the European University Viadrina

Content and objectives

The field of action "Developing ERUA's Social Entrepreneurship" aims to integrate social innovation and entrepreneurial approaches into the curriculum and activities of the partner universities within the alliance. The aim is to raise awareness and empower students and teachers for social entrepreneurship by providing knowledge, skills and networks necessary to tackle social challenges creatively and sustainably.
To achieve this, the spirit of entrepreneurship within the social sciences across the ERUA university community will be promoted, and interdisciplinary collaborations, particularly with STEM disciplines, will be strengthened. This will ensure that societal challenges in the academic environment are addressed through impactful start-ups and positive contributions are made to the region and the broader university network.

Concrete goals include:

  • Increasing the employability of students through the creation and consolidation of start-up and spin-off companies
  • Connecting ERUA universities with their social environment and current societal issues
  • Transferring and applying academic knowledge to solve European social challenges
  • Improving the entrepreneurial infrastructure/resources in higher education institutions to address societal challenges
  • Developing an entrepreneurial spirit among internal and external stakeholders of ERUA universities
  • Public presentation of the best social enterprise projects
