Rights of the staff council

Right to information: The employer must inform the staff council before implementing a measure.

Right to consultation: The employer must provide the staff council with all necessary information and meet with it in good time for consultation. (e.g. training measures)

Right to be consulted: The staff council must be consulted before a certain measure is implemented. (e.g. dismissal)

Right of veto: The staff council must be informed of the planned measures and give its consent. (e.g. recruitment, transfers)

Right of co-determination: The employer must first obtain the consent of the staff council before implementing the measures. If this is not the case, the measure is inadmissible. (e.g. working hours, holiday matters, remuneration issues)

• Enforcing equality between women and men
• Promoting the compatibility of family and work
• A contact point for all employees of the European University Viadrina
• Integration of severely disabled and other vulnerable employees
• Promoting the employment of older employees
• Integration of foreign colleagues
• Promoting and securing employment
• Commitment to university occupational safety and environmental protection
