Adam Mickiewicz University honours Prof. Dr Carmen Thiele with Medal of Merit
On 14 March 2025, a ceremony was held in Poznań to award the medal "For services to the Adam Mickiewicz University" to Prof. Dr Carmen Thiele. During the ceremony, the immense contribution Carmen Thiele has made to international academic cooperation was emphasised. Her outstanding academic achievements were also honoured.

Prof. Dr Carmen Thiele studied International Law in Moscow and went to Cuba after graduating in 1982. She was a law professor in Santiago de Cuba. In 1991, she returned to Frankfurt (Oder) and became the city's Commissioner for Foreigners. In 1993, Carmen Thiele joined the European University Viadrina as a research assistant. She completed her doctorate there in December 1998 under Theodor Schweisfurth, completed her professorship in 2007 and was appointed Associate Professor of International Law, Eastern European Law and Comparative Law in 2012.
