Former Presidents

The European University Viadrina was founded by legal act on 15 July 1991. In October of the following year, 1992, 460 students enrolled at the first two faculties of Rechtswissenschaft (Law) and Wirtschaftswissenschaften (Economics). The Faculty of Cultural Studies was added for the academic year 1993/1994 - a total of 1,100 students were enrolled at the Oder just one year after teaching began in October 1993.

180 years after the old Frankfurt University was closed in 1811 and relocated to what was then Wroclaw, Frankfurt (Oder) has once again become a university city. Since 1991, various rectors, presidents and presidents have accompanied this path at the European University.
