Topics and Issues in Counselling

Studying can be an enormous challenge and, with its many demands, can quickly push you to your limits. Counselling can help you to master the situation.

Examples of issues that are related to studying are:

  • difficulty focussing or retaining information
  • procrastination
  • test anxiety and fear of failure
  • feeling overwhelmed

Other issues counselling can help with are, for example:

  • persistent sadness
  • social anxiety
  • loneliness
  • exhaustion, difficulty falling or staying asleep
  • feeling directionless
  • interpersonal conflict

No matter what issue you are dealing with, as a Viadrina student you can take advantage of the free services offered by the Psychological Counselling Centre.

Couples and Family Counselling / Counselling in English

Counselling for couples or families is also possible, as are counselling sessions in English.

In counselling, we work together to find the skills and resources that can help you overcome your current difficulties. We support you in (re)discovering access to this inner potential. In order to provide you with the best possible support, we look for a suitable counselling setting. In the case of couple or family conflicts, it is possible to come to a counselling session together with your partner or with one or more family members.

Some issues require long-term therapeutic support - or are better dealt with elsewhere. In that case, we will look for suitable alternative services together. Counselling is offered in German or English, depending on which language you feel more comfortable with.
