Innovative teaching and learning pathways

Content and objectives

The work package focuses on designing innovative learning pathways that meet the needs of students and the demands of the modern labour market. The goal is to create a flexible and interdisciplinary learning environment that fosters the development of key competencies and facilitates cross-disciplinary exchange.

To achieve this, various approaches to curriculum development are being explored to ensure that learning offerings are both academically rigorous and practically oriented. This includes the integration of digital teaching methods, project-based learning, and international collaborations. Another key aspect is the consideration of diversity and inclusion in teaching and learning approaches to ensure equal participation for all students.

The field of action “Innovative Teaching and Learning Offerings” (Designing ERUA’s innovative learning pathways) also involves the development of evaluation criteria to measure the effectiveness of the new teaching and learning offers, as well as the inclusion of stakeholders such as students, teachers, and employers in the design process. Through this participatory approach, it is ensured that the developed programmes meet the real needs of learners and optimally prepare them for their future careers.

The overall aim is to create an innovative educational model that not only provides academic knowledge, but also practical skills and social competencies to best prepare students for the challenges of an ever-changing world of work.

The following steps are to strengthen the ERUA framework for teaching and learning and promote new initiatives:

    • Establishment of a task force to overcome barriers to joint degrees
    • Establishment of an ERUA programme for joint degrees on migration
    • Roadmap for joint degree programmes, including pre-PhD and Master's programmes
    • Establishment of an academic innovation lab, including the publication of teaching materials and a handbook for academic innovation
    • Establishment of teaching-orientated mobility pathways (intensive modules, travelling seminars, graduate school)
    • Definition and use of microcredentials

Ways to get involved

It is good to get to know everyone and understand how everything works. It is good to connect on a deeper level.

Ways to get involved

  • Researchers from academia and teaching in the field of migration can get involved in the development of the first ERUA Joint Degree on the topic of migration. Due to the strong pedagogical components and the creation of a joint degree, the involvement of researchers at various levels is highly important.
  • Teaching staff can participate in mobility-intensive teaching programmes.
  • If you are interested in new pedagogical approaches, you can contribute to the Academic Innovation Lab and help in the development of innovative teaching materials.
  • Students can benefit from innovative and diverse exchange/mobility opportunities in addition to semester stays at partner universities, such as the expansion of short-term mobility offers (e.g., Travelling Seminars, Summer and Winter Schools, or Blended Intensive Programmes).
