Building communities and jointly advancing teaching at the Viadrina
In the PROKODIL programme (Digital Teaching Cooperation Groups programme), Viadrina lecturers have worked together over the past three years on innovative teaching modules and the continuous further development of teaching.
PROKODIL is being funded for another year by the Foundation for Innovation in University Teaching. Interested lecturers from all Faculties, the ENS and the Viadrina Language Centre therefore have the opportunity to establish the successfully tested concept of Faculty Learning Communities at their Faculties in the long term.
Meeting frequency: fortnightly, in presence
Workload: two hours/week
Compensation through: relief funds (e.g. SHK/WHK, reduction in teaching load, top-up).
Applications: Acknowledgements and outlook on the further process
Thank you very much for the numerous applications and the interest in the PROKODIL project. We are delighted by the commitment of the teaching staff to work together on the further development of teaching. The selection interviews with the respective Faculties and centres will take place on 8 October, followed by the selection and immediate notification of the participants who will be included in the project. We are looking forward to the future collaboration and the exciting ideas.

In the winter semester 2024/25
... participants will explore the theory and practice of Faculty Learning Communities: in an interdisciplinary peer group, participants will try out how Faculty Learning Communities function and are moderated effectively and what goals could be associated with them.
Once the processes and possible content orientations have been clarified, the lecturers will be supported in the summer semester 2025 in independently implementing curated communities as facilitators at their Faculties and institutions. The aim is to stabilise the concept of structured collegial exchange at the Viadrina.
Let's work together to advance teaching at Viadrina and build strong communities!
What is behind communities?
Faculty Learning Communities are based on the principle of reciprocity: members benefit from both giving and receiving. These communities are living networks in which all participants actively contribute to the development and improvement of teaching practices.
Our FLCs are an inspiring example of communities of practice in which learning is understood as a social process. These communities bring together teachers who share a passion for teaching and learn from each other and develop their practices through regular interaction.
From the winter semester 2024/25 onwards, the new PROKODIL programme will teach participants how to independently form communities of practice at the Faculties and bring them to life.

In our collaboration groups from August 2021 to April 2024, teachers shared their expertise, experiences and teaching ideas and events with like-minded colleagues, whether face-to-face, hybrid and / or online.
Our project pursued a clear mission based on a solid foundation of values and principles. We invite you to learn more about our project mission as well as more information about the past programme and the Faculty Learning Groups by clicking here.
